Cancom Buys Scotsys' Retail Operation In Edinburgh
Apple Reseller, Scotsys, has agreed terms to sell its Edinburgh retail business to Cancom, a major Apple Reseller group, headquartered in Guildford, Surrey. For Cancom, the purchase provides a first store in Scotland to complement its existing locations in Brighton, Cambridge, Guildford and Kensington. The move will allow Scotsys to focus on its key areas for future growth: providing services and solutions to public sector clients and businesses, particularly in the SME space.
Scotsys is part of the Adventi Group, one of
Scotland’s largest privately-owned technology companies and which was
recently named the fastest-growing IT support company in the UK by The
Sunday Times TechTrack 100.
Graham Bucknall, Director of Scotsys
and Director of Strategy for the Adventi Group, said: "We have
identified that our main areas of focus for the future are the public
sector (particularly the education sector in Scotland) and the SME
market. These areas are where the majority of our business is
currently and where we see our expertise lying. Our announcement today
of a strategic move away from retail will allow us to focus all of our
energy and resources on growing our key markets and on continuing to
deliver world class solutions to our education and business customers.
We are delighted to be passing on the Edinburgh retail operation in
such good health to our friends at Cancom. We also pay a personal
thanks to the staff in the store, who will all now become employees of
Cancom, for their long-term loyalty, and to our thousands of retail
customers who have supported us over the years.”
Max Wright,
Managing Director of Cancom Ltd, said: “We have a great belief in the
Apple Premium Reseller Program and last year we opened three APR
Stores. This year we are planning another three or four and the
opportunity to acquire an existing and established store in the Capital
City of Scotland is a great step forward for us. We have always
respected Scotsys as a major player in the Education and Public sector
markets and now they have chosen to concentrate more on these areas, it
makes sense to sell the retail aspect of the business to us, as this is
the area in which we now specialise”
