It features two 8Gb/s Fibre Channel connections per controller. When combined with additional RAID controllers using active/active technology, it can provide enough bandwidth to support one full non-interlaced 4K video stream with only 12 drives. Reaching 1280MB/s with 12 drives, it can even achieve speeds up to 2590MB/s with expansion units. The LaCie 12big Rack Fibre 8 is compatible with all high-performance Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters. LaCie recommends using ATTO Celerity cards with dedicated multipathing drivers for optimised throughput and better reliability.

The LaCie 12big Rack Fibre 8 is shipped with hot-swappable enterprise class disks that are developed with Rotational Vibration Safeguard® (RVS) technology, for improved reliability and robustness. Each single component and chassis are individually tested before shipping. Its RAID controller as well as its two redundant power and cooling modules, are hot-swappable, providing the ultimate in security with no single point of failure. A backup battery helps to ensure that cached data within the RAID controllers can even survive a power failure. Its casing adheres to SBB (Standard Bridge Bay) international standard references, delivering increased quality and affordability, along with near-silent operation.
